The diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelming and impacts your daily life.
Learning how to live life with cancer is important to successful recovery.
Programs offered by KHS Foundation and American Cancer Society will help
with the outward experience and understand your inner journey during this
challenging time in your life.

Networking groups are an opportunity for individuals with similar experiences due to cancer to give and receive support, and share information. Come learn from each other, meet new people, have wonderful discussions or possibly have a presentation. Each group is facilitated by a licensed individual. Each month has a topic for discussion.

September is Affects of Chemo on the Brain
October is Survivorship - Treatment Completed: So Now What?
November is Sexuality and Intimacy
December is Neuropathy

Men with Cancer Networking Breakfast

Provides patients, their caregivers, and family members an opportunity to express feelings and thoughts about their cancer experience through structured expressive art activities using visual art, guided imagery, and writing. Program is for adults in any stage of their cancer experience, their caregivers, and family members.

Breast Self-Examination Training

 

Learn proper technique for Breast Self-Examination using the Mamma Care method, a recognized standard throughout the world. Women and clinicians properly trained in this technique have found breast cancers as small as 3 mm in diameter. Kish Hospital offers one-on-one instruction provided by a certified MammaCare Breast Self-Examination Instructor.

Living Anew

Living Anew is a 6 week program, taught by Paul Vander Sande, LCPC, to help you take control and manage your life to improve your chances of surviving cancer. Each session provides education, group discussion, and clinical hypnosis. Learn stress management skills and cognitive behavioral techniques to minimize anxiety and depression. Caregivers are welcome.

Look Good, Feel Better is presented in partnership with the American Cancer Society, Personal Care Products Council Foundation, Professional Beauty Association, and National Cosmetology Association. This free program teaches beauty techniques to women or girls who are actively undergoing cancer treatment to help combat the appearance-related side effects of radiation therapy and chemotherapy. Come learn tips for skin care, makeup, hair care and wigs. All participants receive a free kit of cosmetics.  (Valued up to $200.)
